Welcome

Welcome to the Arboretum at Queenswood, Dinmore Hill, Herefordshire

Boasting over 500 different species of trees, the easily accessible Arboretum at Queenswood is a wonderful place to explore and enjoy exotic trees from all over the world.

The Arboretum covers 47 acres of Dinmore Hill. Planting started in 1953 as a celebration of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Funds were raised by public subscription to pay for the planting and the Queenswood Coronation Fund was formed. The charity’s vision continues today, now working alongside the Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, in providing funds and advice to develop and improve the collection. We rely on the continuing support of visitors through tree adoptions and donations.

Using TreeFinder

The TreeFinder facility on this website can be used to search our tree collection online and it also provides a useful educational resource.

On the start page the numerous National and County Champion trees (as recognised by the Tree Register of the British Isles) are highlighted in gold and silver respectively; as you zoom in all other trees are shown in green.

Hovering over a tree will reveal a box that shows its species. More information is provided by clicking on that box, including the tree’s common name, the region it comes from and the year it was planted at Queenswood. Most entries also have a link to the website Trees & Shrubs Online where a wealth of additional information about the tree in question can be found.

The search facility allows you to search by common or botanical name, sponsor or tree number. You can also view a list of champion trees in the arboretum.

We hope that you enjoy it.
