Acer grosseri var. hersii has distinctive green and white striated bark and dark-green, 3-lobed leaves. The foliage turns vivid orange and red in the autumn which looks particularly striking against the green back drop of the decorative bark, which itself provides great year-round interest.
Commonly known as Hers’s Maple tree or Snake Bark Maple, Hersii grows quickly in its younger years, before slowing in maturity so it is ideal for positions where screening or a feature is required quickly. Expect a height and spread of 6 x 4 metres in 20 years, forming an upright tree with arching branches.
