Juniperus indica is an erect to procumbent, evergreen shrub, usually growing around 2 metres tall, sometimes growing taller and becoming more tree-like. At the higher elevations of its range it becomes a low-growing shrub.
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine and source of materials. It is used for digestion problems including upset stomach, intestinal gas (flatulence), heartburn, bloating, and loss of appetite, as well as gastrointestinal (GI) infections and intestinal worms. It is also used for urinary tract infections (UTIs) and kidney and bladder stones.
