This elegant conifer, also known as the Mexican weeping pine, comes from the highlands of Mexico and has slender, gracefully hanging grass-green needles and cones up to 4.5 inches long, makinbg it a stunning tree to behold.

It is cultivated for its timber in many areas of the world, including South Africa and India, and in the United Kingdom it is widely used as an ornamental tree. The timber of this tree is pale-pink to salmon in colour, and smells strongly of aniseed when freshly cut.
